As a UKATA accredited training centre, Prime Safety Services Ltd delivers UKATA Asbestos Awareness Training courses in Maidstone, Kent.

The UKATA Asbestos Awareness training provides a complete introduction to the dangers of working around asbestos containing materials (ACM’s). This training course is designed for those whose work could foreseeably expose them to asbestos, in particular demolition, refurbishment or maintenance workers and those workers in allied trades.

Please note this is an awareness course only and does not train delegates to work with any forms of asbestos. It will inform the delegate on how to reduce the associated risks from asbestos in order to work more safely on site.

Preventing Costly Site Shutdowns

On busy sites, asbestos is rarely top of mind. There are usually a dozen other things happening at once. The problem is, when it does get missed, it tends to stop everything. A simple job like drilling, cutting, or moving materials can suddenly turn into a full stop while things are checked properly. That is where delays creep in, costs rise, and everyone ends up under pressure to get things moving again.

The UKATA asbestos awareness training exists to make sure that does not happen. It is not about turning people into specialists or overloading them with technical detail. It is about helping workers and supervisors recognise when something does not look right and knowing what to do before carrying on.

Most issues come from small, avoidable moments. Someone assumes a material is safe, or it has “always been fine before,” and that is where the risk starts. With the right awareness, those situations are picked up earlier, and work does not need to stop unexpectedly.

For anyone working in refurbishment, maintenance, or older buildings, it quickly becomes something you are glad you have covered. It helps keep people safe, avoids unnecessary downtime, and stops simple tasks turning into expensive problems.
