If you have completed the initial five-day CITB Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) course, you must take the CITB SMSTS Refresher training course before your current certificate expires. This Refresher course will allow you to discover the latest updates in health & safety law and learn current best practices in the construction industry.

The SMSTS Refresher training course runs for two days (6 hours per day).

Weekday courses commence at 8.30am.

Our CITB SMSTS Refresher training courses are delivered at our training centre in Maidstone, Kent. We can also deliver private training sessions at your preferred location. Please get in touch with our team to find out more.

Delegates who have passed the initial five-day SMSTS course and hold a valid CITB Site Manager Safety Training Certificate can take the SMSTS Refresher course to renew their certificate before it expires. If your existing CITB SMSTS certificate has expired, you will have to retake the full course.

Evidence of passing the initial SMSTS course will be required to apply for the SMSTS Refresher course.

As a fully accredited CITB training provider, our SMSTS Refresher training course will bring the delegates’ health and safety knowledge up-to-date, as well as give them an overview of legislative changes and how they impact the workplace. At the end of the course, they will be able to implement updated health and safety legislation, best practice and provide guidance in their own workplace.

Topics covered include:

  • Health and Safety Law, Health and Safety at Work etc. Act, Health and Safety policies.
  • Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.
  • Risk assessments and method statements.
  • Induction and training in the workplace.
  • Communication and consultation.
  • Site inspections and audits.
  • Accident prevention, control, reporting and investigation.
  • Management of health.
  • Welfare facilities.
  • Control of substances hazardous to health.
  • Dust and fumes.
  • Noise and vibration.
  • Manual handling.
  • Site organisation.
  • Fire prevention and control.
  • Electrical safety.
  • Temporary works.
  • Plant, work equipment and vehicles.
  • Lifting operations and equipment.
  • Work at Height.
  • Confined spaces.

At the end of the two days, delegates will be required to take a multiple-choice questionnaire. Coursework and participation will also be assessed by the Prime Safety Services Limited instructor.

Upon successful completion, delegates will be awarded a renewable, five-year CITB Site Manager Safety Training Refresher Certificate.
